The f irst
Rutgers Hillel 5k run For Israel Team (FIT) this past Sunday was a huge success, drawing more than 150
participants including members of
the Jewish community, Rutgers students and f itness enthusiasts. The event raised $21,000 to support Israel advocacy, education and engagement at Rutgers University . The youngest participant was
in a cradle, while the oldest participant was well into the golden years. At
the conclusion of the event, the
participants were served Israeli f ood
and received a packet of educational materials about Israel .
The FIT 5K run, which provided an
opportunity to introduce the work of
the Rutgers
Hillel Center f or
Israel Engagement, was the brainchild of
David Yellin, Dr. Richard Bullock, his wif e
Jennif er, and Tzvi Raviv. David
Yellin is the proud f ather Rutgers alum and Rutgers Hillel
Senior Birthright Engagement Associate Greg Yellin. Dr. Bullock, who serves as Rutgers Hillel executive vice president of the Board, and his wif e
are the parents of Jake Bullock 15’
and Rutgers ’ alumna Marissa Bullock. Raviv is
the director of the Rutgers
Hillel Center f or
Israel Engagement.
