First Rutgers Hillel 5k Run a Success

The first Rutgers Hillel 5k run For Israel Team (FIT) this past Sunday was a huge success, drawing more than 150 participants including members of the Jewish community, Rutgers students and fitness enthusiasts.  The event raised $21,000 to support Israel advocacy, education and engagement at Rutgers University. The youngest participant was in a cradle, while the oldest participant was well into the golden years. At the conclusion of the event, the participants were served Israeli food and received a packet of educational materials about Israel.

The FIT 5K run, which provided an opportunity to introduce the work of the Rutgers Hillel Center for Israel Engagement, was the brainchild of David Yellin, Dr. Richard Bullock, his wife Jennifer, and Tzvi Raviv. David Yellin is the proud father Rutgers alum and Rutgers Hillel Senior Birthright Engagement Associate Greg Yellin. Dr. Bullock, who serves as Rutgers Hillel executive vice president of the Board, and his wife are the parents of Jake Bullock 15’ and Rutgers’ alumna Marissa Bullock. Raviv is the director of the Rutgers Hillel Center for Israel Engagement.
