Manalapan resident Allie Reiter 13’
has all the background, personality and drive f or
leadership. Allie, who will major in
history with a double minor in psychology and Jewish studies, credits her
parents with instilling in her a deep passion for the State of Israel and Israel advocacy. She is driven by belief s
that Israelis and Americans share the same values of
democracy, f reedom of speech and f reedom
of religion.
Allie with Representative Shelley Berkley |
Birthright-Israel
provided Allie the opportunity to experience Israel f irst
hand. The visit transf ormed Allie’s
romance with Israel
f rom a “f lirt”
into a love story. This past winter, Allie visited Israel f or
three weeks with Rutgers Jewish Experience’s Meor trip. She explored Jerusalem
and was deeply impressed with the contrasts of
old and new in Jerusalem . Allie plans to return this summer Allie to
study at Hebrew University .
Although Allie
always had a strong pro-Israel f oundation,
her f irst visit to Israel on Taglit-Israel Birthright motivated her
to become involved with Israel
advocacy on campus where she can educate the Rutgers community about Israel ’s diverse
and vibrant society. Allie is particularly impressed with the post high school
military service in Israel
and the lif e-changing experience service
brought about by the Israel Def ense
Forces.
Allie’s goal is to
educate her peers on campus about the Israelis.
She especially wants to tell the story of
Israel ’s
vibrant democracy, where not everyone agrees with the political policies of the state, but is proud of
their country.
