Rutgers Hillel's delegation at the Super Sunday |
On December 4th 2011, thousands of Jewish children, teens, and adults gathered in their Jewish Communities for Super Sunday. Super Sunday is Federation's largest fundraising day where thousands of volunteers make calls to members and participants of Federation events. Volunteer ask for pledges and donations to kick off the next year's campaign in order to budget Federation's money accordingly. Jewish Federations are the main source for donations in Jewish communities. Federations donate to Jewish programs at Schools, Community Centers, Youth Groups, and more! Without Federation's support, Hillel would not have adequate funds to support the 5,800 Jews at Rutgers.
In order to show support for Federations, The Rutgers Israel Public Affairs Committee (RIPAC) together with Lihi Rothshild, Rutgers Hillel Israel Program Coordinator, went to the Jewish Federations of Metrowest and Central to assist fundraising efforts. RIPAC not only had the opportunity to raise money, network, and learn about Federations -- but they also learned more about Israeli culture when they made a delicious dish known as Shashukah! Needless to say, RIPAC cannot wait to go back to Federation soon -- hopefully before next year's Super Sunday!
