Welcome Home Gilad event

This past Tuesday the Rutgers pro-Israel community gathered together for a Welcome Home Gilad event in honor of Gilad Shalit's return from captivity. Students were welcomed by the sounds and images of “welcome back Gilad Shalit” videos playing throughout the building. Rutgers students signed a banner welcoming Gilad Shalit home after his 5 years being held in Gaza. Students joined together to create a Wall of “What Happened” where we posted major events that occurred over the past 5 years.

Students also had the opportunity to purchase the Nu campaign shirt that depicts Gilad Shalit's story “When the Shark and the Fish First Met.” That story, written when Shalit was in school, describes a first encounter between a young fish and a young shark who become friends only to learn that they are supposed to hate each other. The story has become a message of coexistence for the whole region.
The event brought together fun, current events, and a chance to express their excitement over the return of Gilad Shalit.
