Guest Speaker from the David Project

Matthew Ackerman of the David project came this Monday to Rutgers Hillel to talk about the the following topic: "Palestinian Declaration of Statehood: Challenges and Consequences." This lecture was part of the "Real partners. Real peace." initiative.

At the end of September, the leadership of the Palestinian Authority formally presented an application for statehood to the United Nations. This controversial move has moved to the forefront of discussions about the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and holds dramatic potential consequences for the future political dynamics between the two peoples. This lecture provided additional background information on the issue, and gave students the opportunity to discuss and raise questions about the importance and ramifications of the development.
