Rutgers students are taking part in the “Real Partners. Real Peace.” initiative.

At the opening session of the UN General Assembly on September 20, the Palestinian Authority plans to circumvent the peace process with Israel by formally requesting full admission as a state into the UN, based on the pre-1967 armistice lines. This plan has become known as the Palestinian Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI).  The Rutgers Hillel Center for Israel Engagement plans to create a campaign based on the fact that it takes two parties to reach a sustainable peace agreement;  therefore the Palestinian UDI will not promote a real peace between the Israeli and Palestinian people. The CIE is educating students about the implications of the UDI, and providing pro-Israel students with the materials they need to advocate for Israel and peace. The CIE is a safe space to learn about the implications of the UDI, in which students can raise their concerns about Israel and the peace process.
